I have gone here three times... the first time to meet a group of friends for dinner and drinks... after walking in and being seated, it took 30 minutes before a waitress came to our table and this was after asking the hostess for assistance. The second time was to hear a band play, again HORRIBLE service. The third was to go see an old friend from high school play music there.......truly the worst service ever. I don't think I have ever had anything off the menu... after being put out by the apathetic staff.. I refused to order anything other than bottled beer and chips and salsa. I think if this place wants to stay in business.. maybe hire people who understand they are in a "service industry". Otherwise, I gave this place three chances and each time it failed miserably. I think they suck.

WOW! I wish I could say some nice things about the food..... but it was SO bad. I ordered Flautas.... the Chicken fell out in the cooking process and what few (3) pieces that remained were little rubber squares. The rice and Tea was the only thing that was tolerable. My Mother in Law ordered the Chile Rellenos and it was literately a green grilled chili stuffed with cheese. I do not know who is directing the cooking or the menu but it is surly not Mexican.

Excellent food at good prices. The meaty queso is yummy!

I went there today with my boyfriend and the hostess and waiters were very polite and helpful. They were consistently asking if we needed anything such as refills and anything else. Nice to have people who actually care about their customers. I ordered the vegetable fajitas and my boyfriend ordered the fish tacos. I thought my food was pretty tasty ( it is very difficult to find places that have good tasting food with vegetables, so I was pretty pleased) and my boyfriend loved his fish tacos. The décor of the restaurant was not all that great and the food was kinda pricey, but the service was excellent with refills and check ups.

Queso and Poblano peppers are the only good thing here. The chips aren't even that good. They're too thick and hard...wife got a taco salad that was basically just tons of ground meat. Go to Casa maria down the street. Much better and cheaper too.

the only thing I've ever had from here was the Tortilla Soup (no chicken) and it is to DIE FOR!! It's a brothy soup, not chunky and all vegetabl-y like other restaurants. The place is a little too crowded for me, too many tables too close together.

This place has changed names so many times it is ridiculous. But I am confident that Caliente Mexican Craving is here to stay! Caliente has only been open a week or so and this is my second visit. The margaritas are cold and tasty, the cheese dip is large and hot, the chimichanga, tacos, and chili relleno are delicious. I totally recommend this place because I love eating Mexican!!

Everything was delicious! Loved their salsa, had fish tacos - they were great! And the chicken quesadillas were very good. No happy hours on a Thursday night (happy hour is all day Monday through Wednesday), but the ultimate margaritas were great. I usually don't like flan, but theirs is very good. Service left a bit to be desired. For that & the lack of a happy hour, I give it only 4 stars... I'll be back for live music, they have an event calendar on their website.

I may be biased because this is my cousin and her husbands restaurant, but this is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Baton Rouge. Every time i come to BR to visit my family i get my mom to bring me and my husband. we always get the chips and queso because its some of the best queso i get :D my favorite dish is the quesidilla. i like both the chicken and steak so i switch up! I've tried a few other things...the chimichanga's are great. the taco's are great. the rice and beans are great too! (which sometimes you go to a Mexican restaurant and they aren't very tasty. But they are pretty darn good here!) I always enjoy my food and the service here so every time I'm in town I'll be sure to stop in!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
